Dear Andreas,
Good day!
I had taken up the couse in previous session and completed all modules. This time I would like to provide the services of Facilitator/Moderator of the course. May I join as Facilitator/Moderator of the course this time? If yes, what I need to do--kindly advice me.
With warm regards,
Pray

Dear Pray,
Equally a good day to yo!
You are very welcome to join the course team and to provide facilitation and moderation services!
To be frank: this type of Open Course is also new to us! We do have some ideas on how such global open course might work out, and we tried hard to put a good infrastructure in place - but ultimately we all need to learn together how this can be working out "by doing it".
To answer more precisely your question: You are free to decide if you want to offer facilitation and moderation services "for free", or "against fees", or both.
If you want to provide facilitation and moderation services "for free", you could co-moderate or organize IRC chats (every user of this course page can place announcements at the timetable - this is not limited to the current course team). In addition to this we also welcome any help on overseeing the forum posts and to guide learners.
If you want to provide facilitation and moderation services "for fee", you can actively promote them through the "Additional Services Directory". Having said this, you equally can promote facilitation and moderation services "for free"through this "Additional Services Directory".
Also, we have been putting some guides in place within the box at the left hand side named "Partnering Opportunities". As initially said, ultimately we all need to learn together how this can be working out "by doing it" - and therefore we highly welcome any suggestions and support to improve the guides, structures, processes and day-to-day practices!!!
Further, be also welcome to introduce yourself to the other facilitators/moderators within the forum board called "educators hub" - this would help facilitators/moderators to connect to each other
And finally - please do not hesitate to "ask" if things just not make sense to you - very likely you would be right in such case as often the devil is in the detail.
All the best & a nice weekend,
Andreas

Dear Andreas,
Good day!
Thank you prompt response. I would be happy to provide moderation and facilitation services "for free" and I am ready to co-moderate and help on overseeing the forum posts and to guide learners.
As suggested, I will introduce myself to the other moderators/facilitators within "educators hub".
With warm regards,
Sincerely,
Pray

Hello,
I have registered with the OpenED platform quite a few months back and have been waiting for the next course start. As I returned, found that the next course will start from 7th November. But the platform is confusing me how to step by step register courses for myself and proceed, is there anyone who have already done some modules and therefore lead me in the right direction step by step? Any help will be appreciated, Thank You.

Hi Afzal1989. Thank you for registering with the openED course. When you register, you will have been asked which modules you'd like to study. The Course Modules link towards the top-left of your screen will give you a summary of each module. You can login at any point and update your profile should you want to express an interest in different modules.
If you are new to open online distance learning, I suggest you read through Module 0: An introduction to how to learning with openED (the links to Modules are in the left navigation menus). This includes advice on how to work through a module.
Perhaps once you have worked through Module 0 you could let me know how useful it was for you?

Hello SimonC, I went through the Module 0 that enabled me to get a grasp of how studying for the course is going to be. As I have decided to register for upcoming courses, I would seek some suggestion about which course is appropriate for me to take for the first time bearing in mind that, I have chosen all the modules to do one by one and I don't want to take too much pressure at a time as I might not be able to give enough time to it. I want to take time and go easy.

Hello Afzal1989,
thanks for your reply.
I also registered for all modules. Time will indeed be an issue, but that is already the first common thing we have established as a group.
Sahring experiences is certainly going to be one of my major goals in following the modules. Looking forward to it.
Kind regards,
Martin

Hi, Good question. The appearence of the 5P2 session was a mistake on the system.
To clarify: The MODULE 1 session will certinaly take place the evening of the 10th November at [6]pm.
In respect to 5P2. The system problem has been fixed now. The module starts in January and the correct dates for 5P2 chat sessions that will take place during the period will be added to the timetable shortly.
Thanks for bringing this to our attention and apologies for any confusion caused.

Hi Carina,
Welcome back to the course!
Within your profile you can set the modules that you are currently taking and just mark 5 and 6, as well as you can update the course round to the latest one - changing all of those information is not mandatory, but aims at allowing your peers to connect to you.
Hope this helps!
Best,
Andreas

3. Connect to freenode. You will need to connect to the following server: irc.freenode.net
4. Join the channel openEd by adding a new channel named: #openEd[/ol]
B. Using IRC Chat over Browser (no software to be installed at your PC)
1. Go to the Freenode Webchat at webchat.freenode.net
2. At the field “nickname” enter any name you feel like
3. At the field “Channel” insert: openEd
4. Fill in the word you read at the Captcha box
5. Hit the connect button
If you still have any problem, please don't hesitate to contact.

Hi all
I did post an intro in this thread but Chrome managed to lose it last week - I'm Lesley, I'm hoping to follow this course and am interested to see how the open model works out in practice. I've been working for myself for quite some time as an independent consultant and trainer - I was inspired by the writer and business guru Charles Handy to follow a 'portfolio' life. Having been living in South Africa for the last 15 years, we have just relocated back to the UK to live in Milton Keynes - the home of the Open University! Now back 'home' myself I'm planning my next career move and going back into a 'proper job'!!
Looking forward to working together on the course - how is everyone doing with it?
Cheers
Lesley
